Hi, I am a 67 year old male and live in the UK. I am researching my family tree and can trace this back to a James Henry Avery born 1823 in North Carolina US. I cannot locate James Henry’s parents and it the feeling is that he was born out of wedlock. To help with this I have recently took a YDNA test and all of my matches either have the surname Herndon or have a Herndon connection. I have now found James Henry Avery living on the estate of James Hord Herndon I Greene Alabama in 1860 but cannot connect Thomas to North Carolina in 1823 therefore not sure if Thomas is the father or just a relative. Thomas was born in Virginia in 1794 and his ancestors were William Herndon and Catherine Digges. Any help with my search would be very much appreciate. Kind regards Mr B Gardner
