My grandfather Patrick was born in Mayo in 1840 and married Mary Casey. He died in 1904. Had ten children,Patrick,Michael, Delia, John,William, Mary, Thomas,Margaret,,George, and my father Martin born in 1891 and died in 1956.he first went to Brooklyn with $25 and stayed with his sister. Most of us settled in Chicago and Iowa. The first born got the farm in Ireland so the rest of the boys had to make their own way..

Hello... I am from Turkey in Istanbul. My grandparents were born in Sivas, Zara that another city in Turkey. Actually, I wonder about Horan surname in Ireland. Are there any possibilities about there will migration from Sivas to Galway or vice verse.
Lorraine Grison née Horan
Hello, My dad (Tom Horan, born in 1926)) and his family lived in Pelsall, Walsall, West Midlands, England, where I was brought up before leaving to live in the French Alps. His great-grandparents (James Horan and Bridget Morris) emigrated from Galway (together?) and married in Walsall in 1863. Bridget was born in Williamstown, Galway, in 1840 and died in Walsall in 1912 as did James. Any information about these ancestors would be greatly appreciated.

My fathers name was James Francis Horan and it went back to my great-great grandfather as far as I could follow. Some information put his family in Galway others in Mayo. Planning to come to Ireland in June 2020 and would like to visit areas where family may have come from.I was born and raised in Washington, DC but have lived for many years in Cocoa Beach, Florida, USA Wondering if you are familiar with my fathers name in your area. Thank you so much , Linda Ott

I'm a great-granddaughter of Philip Horan and am researching his Irish birth record as well as any records/info re: his parents, Charles Henry Horan and Johanna O'Connor. Philip's DOB: Sep 1845. He had a sister (Honoria) who served as a nun at Castlecomber, and a brother John & sister (name unknown) who emigrated to the U.S. in the later 1800's. Any suggestions as to where to find them?

(Part 1 of 3) The Horan name has a long history in Ireland, but now DNA and some recorded history says its origin is from the north-west region of the Emerald Island. The Horan story [dominated by DNA tribal marker R1b-L513, Subgroup D2] can trace their beginnings to the Finn Valley in Donegal, Ireland from 50 BCE. Perhaps the journey begins with the Clanna Dedad; Deda, son of Sen or Deda Mac Sin. The Horan surname origin is from the Cenél Conaill [R1b-L513, Subgroup D] who found the Dál Fiatach.

(Part 2 of 3) A group will also found the Kingdom of Ercing in Wales as trade with Romans will become essential around 300 CE. But how could this be? Recent discoveries from DNA testing are unlocking the migration patterns of Celtic tribes as late as 800 CE to 1200 CE. The Horan story begins in pre-history Ireland but this line and many of his kin will move to Wales, then travel to Brittany, France during the Dark Ages.

(Part 3 of 3) Discover their newly found untold story and how forgotten texts bring their story back to life. From the ebook, “The Tribe Within” learn how DNA unfolds this amazing tale and if you look in the right places, how history narrates this evidence. There is another written account of their story, but it is camouflaged in smoke and myth – it will become the tales of King Arthur.
